Hero Points

  • Normal Usage
    • Advantage on a Roll (Roll Twice, Take the better)
  • Narrative-Influencing Events
    • e.g. “Do we know each other from somewhere?” Or “I’ve got a guy for that”
    • Tie it to your character, make it backstory! Have fun with it!

Spells

  • I personally dislike when spells, which take two actions minimum to cast, result in a Failure with null result. It leaves a bad taste.
    • Expend a further spell slot (or slots) of equal level to bump up your degree of success.
    • Amp your results, in essence, but strain yourself doing so, becoming Fatigued 1 every time you do so. This stacks. Fatigued 1, Fatigued 2, etc. How far do you want to push your luck? Better damage, quicker results, but higher chance of crits as you push yourself beyond your limit, becoming too tired to keep up!
    • Fatigued ticks down 1 per 10 Minute Rest, or Treat Wounds
    • E.g. I cast a Fourth Level spell with a Basic Reflex Save. The bandit rolls a success for half damage. I can expend another 4th level slot, or I can spend a 1st and a 3rd level spell (or 2 2nd level) to bump up my effect. This lowers the bandit’s Reflex save to a regular failure, resulting in full damage, and I become Fatigued 1 until I am able to rest.
  • Focus Points can be used as a semi-renewable source of casting points for regular spells. Focus Points applied count towards 1 level of spell cast. (E.g. I store 3 Focus Points and can then use those three points to cast a level 3 spell).
    • This is good up until you get over level 3 spells. Maybe a focus charm or staff to store points in up to a max amount, until you expend it.
